An exhibition of artworks created on stone paper opens today at the Ivan Vazov National Library in Plovdiv, the institution announced. The works are by students from the Tsanko Lavrenov National School of Fine Arts and the National High School of Stage and Screen Arts.

The display features 24 paintings, all of which were produced using this innovative material, which sparks creativity and experimentation among young artists.

Stone paper is renowned for its smooth surface and unique properties — unlike traditional cellulose paper, it is water- and oil-resistant. It is also a relatively eco-friendly product, as it is produced without cutting down trees or using large amounts of water.

"In this special month for architects and artists, we have the chance to highlight the importance of architectural design for urban spaces through the eyes of young creators. Their vision of architecture and cultural heritage matters deeply, as we count on them to carry the torch of preservation into the future,” said the organisers, quoted by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA).

During the event, awards and certificates will be presented to participants in recognition of their contribution to the promotion of Plovdiv’s architectural heritage.
