The legal heirs of the people who lost their lives during the flooding in the region of Burgas at the beginning of October will receive 15,000 leva (EUR 7,670), the government has decided, BGNES reports. The 60,000 leva (EUR 30,679) needed has been provided from the budget of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy. The one-time assistance will be paid out by the Social Assistance Agency.

At the beginning of the month the cabinet allocated additional aid amounting to 3,000 leva (EUR 1,534) for the people affected by the flooding. They will be able to receive one-rime assistance amounting to three times the poverty line – 1,914 leva (EUR 978) as well as financing for household appliances destroyed amounting to up to 2,500 leva (EUR 1,278) from the social protection fund. This brings the total amount of assistance that can be granted by the social ministry to almost 7,500 leva (EUR 3,835).
