The Prosecutor's Office has raised new charges against Mayor of Varna, Blagomir Kotsev, BNR reporter Silvia Velikova informed. He is expected to be presented with materials part of the case on Friday, which means that the investigation into a corruption scandal in the municipality of Varna is in its final stages and the Prosecutor's Office can bring the case to court.

In July, Blagomir Kotsev was arrested for corruption and participation in an organized crime group, and as of today, he is accused of colluding with municipal councillors Yordan Kateliev and Nikolay Stefanov, businessman Nikolay Marinov and an unknown person with immunity - an MP of the current National Assembly, to commit a crime.

Ina Lulcheva, who is the lawyer of the detained mayor, posed questions to the Prosecutor's Office: why did the state prosecution claim that there was still a lot of work to be done in the investigation, so it can justify Blagomir Kotsev's detention in custody, after the evidence was collected back in the summer and there is nothing new? Why wasn’t he released after the pre-trial proceedings were over and the only reason for his detention was not to hinder the investigation? This was what Nova TV has reported.
