The European Commission expects Bulgaria to provide a position and assessment of the possible consequences for the Lukoil refinery in Burgas as soon as possible after the imposition of US sanctions against the Russian company. This was reported to BNR by sources in Brussels. The EC is closely monitoring the situation and is assessing the impact of the US measures together with the EU Member States and the International Energy Agency. Brussels has contacted individual countries, including Bulgaria, to obtain more information.
According to European legislation, EU countries have sufficient oil reserves for at least 90 days. The Commission is ready to convene an extraordinary meeting of the Oil Coordination Group if necessary. Its regular meeting is scheduled for November 12, BNR correspondent in Brussels, Angelina Piskova, has reported.
