A number of events are being held throughout Bulgaria to mark the Day of National Awakeners. On the day we pay tribute to the Bulgarian writers, educators and fighters for national liberation who have preserved the spiritual values of the nation and its morality over the centuries. The academic community of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" will also recall that Bulgaria was first liberated spiritually thanks to the efforts of the Orthodox Church, schools, and community centers.
For yet another year, the university will mark the holiday with a procession and flower-laying ceremony in front of the monuments of brothers Evlogi and Hristo Georgiev, St. Kliment Ohridski, St. Paisii Hilendarski, Hilarion of Makariopolis, and at the grave of the patriarch of Bulgarian literature, Ivan Vazov.
The academic procession will depart at 11:30 a.m. from the main entrance of the Rectorate.
