Deputy Prime Ministers and Ministers of Transport Grozdan Karadzhov and Aleksandar Nikoloski signed an agreement in Gyueshevo for the construction of a railway tunnel between Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia. The facility is part of the Western Balkans - Eastern Mediterranean transport corridor and the strategic Corridor VIII.

The event took place in the presence of the ambassadors of EU and NATO countries, who travelled to Gyueshevo on the Corona Express train together with the Bulgarian government delegation. Deputy Prime Minister Karadzhov said that today’s event "brings back to life more than a century-old idea, which is the railway connection between Sofia and Skopje", as the first projects of the line date back to 1897.
