Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov will take part in the solemn celebrations on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the Serbo-Bulgarian War, which will be held on November 7 - Victory Day in the Battle of Slivnitsa. The ceremony will take place on Unity Square in Slivnitsa and will end with a solemn military ritual in front of the "Heroes of Slivnitsa" monument.
On November 7, 1885, the Bulgarian Army achieved one of the most significant victories in its modern history - the victory in the Battle of Slivnitsa. This day became a symbol of the determination and unity of the young Bulgarian state, which two months after its Unification with Eastern Rumelia managed to defend its independence against a more experienced and better armed opponent. Knyaz Alexander I of Battenberg took command personally and directed the army towards Slivnitsa. On November 5, the first battle began. On November 7 the battle reached its climax and the Bulgarians were victorious.
