Bulgaria has no additional conditions from the United States for the exception of the sanctions imposed on Lukoil to enter into force, Minister of Energy Zhecho Stankov told BNT. If necessary, the postponement of the sanctions against Lukoil can be extended, Minister Stankov assured, adding that tensions have eased following the granted derogation. “The way in which the derogation was granted certainly provides reassurance to the financial institutions in our country, allowing them to continue providing their services to these enterprises”, Zhecho Stankov said.
Speaking to BNR, Minister Stankov also noted that if the sale of Lukoil’s assets begins only in Bulgaria, there is a screening mechanism headed by Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev. Through the State Agency for National Security and the screening committee, the state will ensure the security of supplies in the country, Zhecho Stankov explained.
