Experts discuss students’ access to social networks

The Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science is organizing a national round table on 20 November on the topic “Are Restrictions Needed on Children’s Access to Social Networks?”

The initiative is in cooperation with the parliamentary committees on education and science, demographic policy, children and families, and others. The goal of the round table is to hold an open, expert public discussion about the impact of social networks on children and students — on their habits, communication, education, and safety in the digital environment, as well as on possible approaches to regulation. The entire discussion will be broadcast online on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science.

The debate about social networks and their use by children is taking place in many countries. Australia has banned social networks, and similar debates are ongoing in France, Spain, Norway, Greece, and Denmark.
