Bulgarian Judges Association raises concern over new antivirus software

Judges have opposed the introduction of a new antivirus agent on their computers. The magistrates fear that it could violate personal data protection rules and compromise the independence of the judiciary.

In an official letter, the Bulgarian Judges Association demanded the “immediate suspension of the implementation of the Trellix Endpoint Security Power Edition antivirus agent in the courts.” “We are aware of serious concerns among the judicial community and the court’s system administrators regarding the risks to information security, personal data protection, and the independence of the judiciary,” the letter cited by segabg.com reads. The judges also argue that the antivirus program proposed for implementation by the Supreme Judicial Council and the state company “Information Services” does not comply with five EU standards for such products.
