Three people, including an Italian citizen, were arrested during last night's protest against the adoption of the 2026 budget in front of the National Assembly, the director of the Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs, Chief Commissioner Lyubomir Nikolov, announced.
According to him, the arrests were made after attempts to damage a vehicle of the National Security Service and to attack a person with immunity. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in these cases.

Five police officers were injured during the protest. Two were treated at the scene and returned to work, while the others were taken to hospital and subsequently discharged. Three protesters were also injured, but Chief Commissioner Lyubomir Nikolov said there was no evidence that their injuries were caused by police officers.
Regarding the police officer who was filmed sticking out his tongue at protesters, the Director of the Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs said that an inquiry would be conducted and the recordings reviewed to determine whether his behaviour was provocative.
