Today, jointly with Austrian Minister of Defense and Sports Hans Peter Doskozil, the Bulgarian Minister of the Interior Rumiana Bachvarova and Defense Minister Nikolay Nenchev she visited the Border Police Regional Directorate in Elhovo to evaluate border protection measures on Bulgaria-Turkey border. “I am convinced that had Bulgaria failed to build this fence on time, the migration flow would go across this particular border”, Mikl-Leitner said. Next week, a Bulgarian delegation will pay a visit to Austria’s Ministry of Defense for talks on issues regarding Austrian support with equipment aimed for the Bulgarian border: buses, ambulances and other equipment. Special attention will be given to the Black Sea border with a view to prospects of migration wave taking that route.
