Speaking at the 14th Gas Infrastructure Europe Annual Conference underway in Sofia PM Boyko Borissov said that construction of the Bulgaria–Turkey gas interconnector would begin in the coming two weeks. The prime minister pointed out that gas supply diversification had been discussed for years but only now some practical steps were being made with the new compressor stations built by the country so that gas could flow in both directions.
