Day of Sofia 17 Sept: Orthodox Church commemorates holy martyrs Sophia, her daughters Faith, Hope and Love

On the occasion of the Say of Sofia, 17 Sept., a solemn session will be held of the Sofia Municipal Council and a water blessing ceremony outside St. Sophia Church in the capital city. By tradition, the city’s flag will be flown. Tonight at the Sofia Opera House, the Sofia Municipality Awards will be given for outstanding achievement in culture, Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova said. “This city was not built for a day, but for thousands of years. It can be proud as a place that that has given rise to ideas  having changed this country and Europe. It is our responsibility to make the city comfortable for its people, open to the young and a place with for development and prosperity. Congratulations on the Day of Sofi! I wish you all the best of health, and let God protect the city of Sofia”, Mayor Fandakova said.
