A delegation of ACES Europe, the European Cities and Capitals of Sports Federation visited the resort town of Bansko, Southern Bulgaria to appraise its nomination for European Town of Sport, 2017.
Gian Francesco Lupattelli, president of ACES Europe stated that he was impressed by the fact that a small European town had played host to 10 world FIS Alpine World Ski Championships and that Bansko municipality was fully financing 10 local sports club. Alongside Sofia, designated European Capital of Sport for 2018, Bansko will officially receive the distinction at an award ceremony at the European Parliament on 16 November.
