Bulgaria marks the World AIDS Day on December 1 with various initiatives. According to official data, a total of 2,460 Bulgarians are HIV positive. 193 people were registered HIV positive since the beginning of 2016. 88% of the newly-registered were infected through sex. The number of newly-infected men is five times higher that the number of newly-infected women. One-third of the infected Bulgarians are aged 29 or under. Most cases of HIV were registered in Bulgaria’s big cities-Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Pleven, etc.
