“There are gas leaks from two additional tanks, we are closely monitoring the situation on site,” said outgoing Interior Minister Rumyana Bachvarova at a briefing after a meeting of the crisis headquarters in Hitrino. “The situation has become more complicated – there are gas leaks from two tanks and we have to be more careful when we make any decisions.”
Minister Bachvarova appealed for patience and added that the inhabitants will probably have to stay away from the village for a longer period. She stated that no one must try to enter Hitrino.
Rumyana Bachvarova stated that work on the disposal of the tanks had begun. “Our main concern at the moment is to avoid any risk to the people who have to cope with the situation. That is what matters most,” Rumyana Bachvarova said.
