Bulgaria’s cabinet has been planning measures aimed at alleviating road traffic at Danube Bridge 2 near the city of Vidin (Northwest Bulgaria). Cargo vehicles have been forming in the recent days long queues at Danube Bridge 2 and Danube Bridge in Ruse. On Saturday a traffic ban was imposed on cargo vehicles on the main road connecting Botevgrad and Vidin, because the border checkpoint near Vidin was unable to serve all vehicles. The ferryboat line between Vidin and Calafat (Romania) was also closed. We have advised the Romanian authorities to launch a third road bed at their border checkpoint, in order to alleviate traffic congestion, Bulgaria’s outgoing Minister of Interior Rumiana Bachvarova said. On Saturday twelve -kilometer-long queue was formed near Danube Bridge 2 near Vidin. TIR trucks formed ten kilometer-long queue at Danube Bridge in Ruse. According to the management of Danube Bridge border checkpoint in Ruse, the situation will be brought under control on Sunday.
