Currently 20 percent of Bulgaria's gross domestic product is generated by the sphere of energy and related industries. This was pointed out by Valentin Nikolov, Bulgaria's representative at the World Energy Council, in an interview for the Bulgarian National Radio.

According to Mr. Nikolov, in the future world's energy industry will most likely develop mostly on the basis of renewable energy sources, nuclear power and gas.

“Bulgaria has already paid more than 1.7 billion euros for the Belene NPP project and the government should look for ways to return the investment. Foreign investors’ interest in the project exists,” the expert added.
