After the face-to-face meeting between the heads of state of France and Bulgaria, President Rumen Radev stated that he regarded the visit by President Emmanuel Macron to Bulgaria as a sign of qualitative growth in relations with France, which have the potential to develop even further.
President Radev stated he expected France to support Bulgaria’s efforts towards the country’s accession to the Schengen area, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the Eurozone waiting room.
On his part President Macron said the two countries were in agreement regarding the reform of the EC directive on the posting of workers inside the EU, the construction of European defence and migration. The French head of state expressed solidarity with Bulgaria’s views in favour of the accession of the Western Balkans to the EU and on setting out a roadmap to this end.
