President Rumen Radev to address UN General Assembly on Wednesday

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev will address the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday. A delegation headed by him is leaving for New York to take part in the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly. In New York, the Bulgarian head of state will meet with Secretary-General António Guterres.

International security and combatting terrorism will be among the talking points during Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva’s meetings in New York. Minister Zaharieva, who is a member of the delegation the Bulgarian president is heading, will be holding meetings with counterparts from Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, Latin America and Europe.

“Unfortunately, every year we say it is a difficult period, but now it really is - with everything that is happening, including in North Korea. I am glad the Security Council was unanimous in its vote for the new sanctions and the resolution. We shall also be discussing the reform. You know that for years there has been talk of reforming the UN, the institutions and the missions it has. There will be many meetings there, the motto is - stability, security, peace,” Minister Zaharieva said.
