During her two-day working visit to Albania, Bulgarian Vice President Iliana Iotova has met with Albanian President Ilir Meta, parliamentary speaker Gramoz Ruci and Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The Bulgarian Vice President has been given assurances that the rights of the Bulgarian minority will be guaranteed and children of Bulgarian descent will have access to mother tongue study.

Mechanisms will be worked out for inclusion of the Bulgarian language in regular schools, not only in weekend schools, so that children of Bulgarian descent will have the chance of later enrolling in Bulgarian universities.

A month ago the Albanian parliament passed a National Minorities Protection Act which recognizes a Bulgarian minority in that country.
