The Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of EU can count on the full support and cooperation from the European Parliament. This was what President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, said in his address to the Bulgarian National Assembly.

According to him, the choice of the Bulgarian government to focus on a presidency open to the citizens was particularly appropriate. Antonio Tajani congratulated the Bulgarian authorities for the progress made in recent years, which is also reflected in the EC's latest report under the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism.

Mr. Tajani has pointed out that because of its external borders Bulgaria was key to the European policy of cohesion, as well as security and migration management. The President of the European Parliament ended his speech in Bulgarian language with the words "Unity makes power", which is the motto of the Bulgarian presidency of the Council of EU.
