European Commission Vice-President of the EU Energy Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič said in Sofia that because of its geographical location Bulgaria is the most suitable place to become a center of a gas hub for the region.
The country has a well-developed network of interconnectors with neighboring countries, starting with the interconnector between Bulgaria and Greece. There is a lot of progress in the construction of a Bulgaria-Turkey interconnector, more compressor stations are planned for the Bulgaria-Romania interconnector aimed to improve its effectiveness.
