Former goaltender of the Bulgarian national hockey team, Konstantin Mihaylov, has become the first Bulgarian to become member of the Hockey Hall of Fame. Mihaylov received the news personally from President of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), Dr René Fasel. Konstantin Mihaylov has participated in 28 world championships for men.
Bulgaria has now become the eighth country in the world with a player accepted in the Hockey Hall of Fame. Most of the players in the list are from Canada and the USA. The list includes also players from Russia (including the USSR), Sweden, Finland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
