Bulgaria’s Vice President Iliana Yotova visits Kazakhstan

Bulgaria’s Vice President Iliana Yotova met with the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during her visit to that country. Iliana Yotova and Kassim-Jomart Tokayev discussed the development of the Bulgarian community in Kazakhstan. People from 140 different nationalities and ethnic groups live in this country and the Bulgarian community is among the oldest communities with a status of a national minority. The Bulgarians in Kazakhstan have 5 cultural centers. Vice President Yotova and President Tokayev accentuated during the talks on the representation of the Bulgarians in the local Parliament and the Bulgarian language studies. It became clear that Sofia is ready to send a professional teacher in Bulgarian language and literature and that as of next year the Sunday school in the capital Nursultan can start functioning on a regular basis. Kazakhstani students of Bulgarian descent will have the opportunity to study in Bulgaria. Vice President Yotova is paying a two-day official visit to Kazakhstan at the invitation of the Bulgarian community in this country.
