Over 6,000 domestic pigs were killed in the recent years worldwide due to the African swine fever. In Bulgaria a total of 203,000 pigs were killed due to this disease, Bulgaria’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Desislava Taneva said in Berlin. So far Bulgaria paid nearly EUR 36 million for compensation and prevention against African swine fever and expects co-financing from the European Commission.
