The 40th contingent of the Bulgarian army from the NATO Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan was sent off with an official ceremony at Plovdiv airport.

I believe the planned rotation has been a success because we have kept the contingent healthy in this difficult epidemiological situation, said Deputy Chief of Staff Vice Admiral Emil Eftimov.

The 160 members of the contingent have been in quarantine for 14 days, and are leaving in full force and good health after taking the respective tests.

According to Vice Admiral Eftimov, the situation in Afghanistan with regard to coronavirus is calm. In coordination with NATO the contingent has been supplied with the necessary  protective equipment.
