Bulgaria climbs the 2019 Open Budget Index ranking. With a score of 71, Bulgaria remains in the group of countries with score between 60 and 80 (out of 100) which are considered to provide significant information about the budget, data of the Institute for Market Economy reads.
In 2006, when the Open Budget Index was published for the first time, Bulgaria had a score of 47 and in 2017 it had a score of 66.
According to the survey, Bulgaria provides a significant amount of information through the fiscal framework, the draft budget and the state of the government debt, but can increase its score even more through creating mechanisms for active inclusion of the civil society during the planning of the budget by the government.
