“17 May is the day of Bulgarian sports. I congratulate all Bulgarian competitors, coaches, sports officials and friends on the occasion of Bulgarian sports day,” writes Krasen Kralev, Minister of Youth and Sports in a congratulatory address.

Sports personalities have always been a treasure for society. This has been so since the very start on 17 May, 1894, when the first 10 physical education teachers came from Switzerland and laid the beginning of organized sport in the country, the address reads.
