“Despite the coronavirus crisis, the state is not going to reduce the budgeted spending,” said Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov in Stara Zagora. He pointed out that the government’s 60/40 measure has helped 282,000 people keep their jobs, and that it will continue to operate as long as it is necessary to support enterprises in difficulty.
Minister Goranov was categorical that taxes in Bulgaria must not be altered, as current taxation is the system that is most fair with regard to the middle class.
“Any attempt to introduce progressive taxation will mean one thing – that the people who are active, well-educated will pay double the taxes they pay now. That is wrong and demotivating,” Minister Goranov said.
