A record number of PCR tests were performed in Bulgaria last week. A total of 28,230 PCR tests were made between July 13 and 19, which was 25% more than in the previous week when 22, 483 PCR tests were performed. The increased number of PCR tests was due to the fact that Greece, Austria and other countries required foreign nationals to present negative results of PCR tests upon entry. Many Bulgarians prefer to spend their summer holidays in Greece. As a result, they formed long lines in front of private laboratories certified to perform PCR tests for Covid-19. Last week the number of newly-registered cases of Covid-19 fell to 1,463 from 1,498 confirmed in the previous week.
