A protest against the proposed amendments to the Labor Code took place near the National Assembly building downtown Sofia. Increasing overtime from 150 to 300 hours a year is to the detriment of the employees, especially of people with high-risk jobs, the Confederation of Labor Podkrepa contends.
The draft has been already approved at second reading in the National Assembly Committee on Labor, Social and Demographic Policy.
If the National Assembly adopts finally the new texts, this would mean that the eight-hour workday will be replaced with nine-hour workday which would lead to accidents at work, Vanya Grigorova from the Confederation of Labor Podkrepa said. Protesters blocked temporarily traffic at Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard, BTA informs.
