Bulgarian Orthodox Church marks day of Saint Mina, protector of families and travellers

On November 11, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church commemorates the feast of the Holy Great Martyr Mina (Saint Menas), considered the patron saint of the family and guardian of orphans and the homeless. Believers pray to St. Mina for the health and well-being of their home and children. He is also revered as a saint who helps people find or regain what they have lost or stolen. Long-distance travellers, as well as soldiers, also expect protection because the saint himself was once a famous and brave warrior.
By decision of the Bulgarian government, the Day of St. Mina is designated as a professional holiday of security guards.
This day is a celebration for those who are named Mincho, Mina, Victor, Victoria, Vincent.
