Number 1 seeded Denis Shapovalov drops out of Sofia Open 2020 in second round

One of the favourites at Sofia Open 2020 dropped out of the tennis tournament at the very start. Number 1 seeded Denis Shapovalov, Canada, lost to Radu Albot, Moldova by 2-6, 4-6 in 75 minutes.

In the next round Radu Albot is to play versus the winner from the match between Egor Gerasimov and Adrian Mannarino, gong.bg reports.

Bulgaria’s participation in the tournament is over. In the doubles Dimitar Kuzmanov/ Viktor Troicki lost to Jurgen Melzer/Edouard Roger-Vasselin by 2-6, 4-6. Victories went to Richard Gasquet, Gilles Simon, Jannik Sinner and Vasek Pospisil. Canada’s Pospisil is the second player who has qualified for the quarter-finals, after winning versus Jan-Lennard Struff by 6-3, 6-4 in one hour, 20 minutes.
