A steady decline in crime rate since 2010 is seen in the results of an analysis of data from a national crime survey prepared by the Center for the Study of Democracy and presented in an interview with the Bulgarian National Radio. Because of the fact that in times of economic and political crisis there is jump in crime, experts forecast rise in domestic crime in 2021, as by the end of this year signs of this are already visible.

The survey shows that in 2019, 60% of victims did not go to the police at all to register crimes for various reasons - they thought that the crime was not serious enough, did not believe that the police would do something or because of other reasons.
