Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition reaches "St. Kliment Ohridski” base

The team of the 29th National Antarctic Expedition have reached Livingston Island, where the Bulgarian polar station "St. Kliment Ohridski" is situated, the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute has reported. After a 20-day quarantine in the Chilean port of Punta Arenas, the six researchers were transported by the Spanish research vessel Sarmiento de Gamboa. They are all in good health.

In the area of ​​the base the snow cover was insignificant and the unloading of 1 ton of food, 2.5 tons of fuel and 6 tons of construction materials was fast.

Seasonal repairs of the base, completing the construction of a modern laboratory module that started in 2020 and recharging the scientific equipment are the planned activities during the short stay.
