A serious increase in the number of Covid19 patients in Sofia and Sofia district has been reported by the deputy mayor of healthcare in Sofia, Doncho Barbalov, in the Healthcare Commission of the Sofia Municipal Council.

2,050 people are hospitalized, as 229 of them are in intensive care units. The number of hospitalized young people is also growing. Over 50% of the beds in the municipal hospitals are now used for patients with Covid-19, BNR reported.

"The necessary materials and equipment is available. The problem is with the shortage of staff and with the fatigue that accumulates as a result of a lot of shifts and the intensive care that must be provided for such patients," Barbalov said.
