Interconnector with Greece should be ready by end of year: PM Borissov

“The Greece-Bulgaria interconnector should be ready by the end of 2021 so that liquefied gas can flow through it from Alexandroupolis - American, Israeli, Egyptian, from many sources. In future its capacity can be increased to 5 billion cubic metres of gas a year,” said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov who conducted an inspection of the construction work.

The project is important for Bulgaria and for the region because if affords the possibility of diversifying natural gas supply sources, the government press service states.

At this time pipes have been distributed along the 150-km. track in preparation of subsequent activity, along 70 kilometres the pipes have been laid in trenches. The pipeline is 182 kilometres long, 150 of which on Bulgarian territory.
