MPs have approved the establishment of an Interim Committee with the purpose to check for abuses in the spending of funds by the government of Boyko Borissov, ministries, state bodies and state enterprises. 214 MPs, including MPs of GERB/UDF, supported the proposal. The committee will be headed by Maya Manolova of “Stand Up! Thugs, Out!”. A period of 10 years will be the focus of the check. Bulgarian MPs rejected the proposal of GERB/SDS to keep the committee permanent. It includes 18 members - three of each parliamentary group, BNR reporter Dobrina Karambolova informed.
Without the votes of GERB-SDS, on a proposal by Maya Manolova, parliament obliged Boyko Borissov to appear before the National Assembly on 21 April to present Bulgaria’s Recovery and Resilience Plan. Borissov was supposed to present the plan today but after announcing last night that he was taking leave he did not appear before parliament.
