The European Public Prosecutor's Office is not a foreign institution - it serves European citizens, European Chief Prosecutor Laura Koveshi said at a pressconference held at the House of Europe in Sofia. "We will investigate crimes affecting the EU budget if the damage exceeds EUR 10 million. The European Public Prosecutor's Office will also investigate VAT fraud and corruption. We will investigate independently and work to bring cases to national courts", said Laura Koveshi.

"Bulgarians can report information on the website of the European Parliament, if they think that it is important for us. They can contact us in Bulgarian or in other EU languages. The European Public Prosecutor's Office will investigate all signals", added Laura Koveshiand and explained that the European Public Prosecutor's Office would not interfere in the work of Bulgaria‘s Prosecutor’s Office.

A new procedure aimed to elect Bulgarian magistrates as European Delegated Prosecutors will begin on June 14, added Laura Koveshi.

"I am not paying a visit to Bulgaria. I am at homebecause the European Public Prosecutor's Office has a representation in this country," said Laura Koveshi.
