Politicians and MPs have not been wiretappedshows an investigation of the National Investigation Service. Two months ago, the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office initiated pre-trial proceedings in reaction to media reports and assigned the National Bureau for Control of Special Intelligence Means to check on the Internal Security Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, the State Agency for National Security (SANS) and the Chief Directorate for Combatting Organized Crime (CDCOC).

According to the investigation, there had been no breaches of the law by employees of SANS, the Chief Directorate for Combatting Organized Crime and the Interior Ministry’s Internal Security Directorate with regard to the use of special intelligence means. The pre-trial proceedings were terminated due to the lack of evidence.
