"Since the beginning of August, Bulgaria’s electricity prices were the highest in the entire EU. This is due to the damaging and incompetent management of the energy sector to the detriment of this country’s economy and households. We demand the resignation of Bulgaria’s Minister of Economy, the governing board of the Bulgarian Energy Holding and Maritsa East 2 thermal power plant”, announced the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association Vasil Velev after a meeting with this country’s caretaker Premier Stefan Yanev. “The high energy prices make the Bulgarian produce uncompetitive”, noted Vasil Velev.

The competent authorities are to analyze the situation in the energy sector and look for the right decisions, Premier Yanev pointed out.

In August, the price of electricity on the Day Ahead Market reached 155.19 EUR/MWh.
