The caretaker government proposes to ban acquisition of Bulgarian citizenship in exchange for investments. This is planned in the draft amendment to the Bulgarian Citizenship Act. The amendment would abolish Art. 12a and 14a for receiving a passport after investing 500,000 euros in government securities or in a licensed credit institution under a trust management agreement. The members of the investor's family also acquire Bulgarian citizenship by naturalization.
