Assen Vassilev: I don’t expect inflation to reach 10%

Inflation will peak in March and April, Bulgaria’s Minister of Finance Assen Vassilev forecasted in an interview for the BNT. In his words, inflation will not exceed 10% and will fluctuate between 5% and 8%. 

He voiced hopes that the 2022 state budget will be adopted by the end of February. Minister Vassillev called the draft budget social, because of the measures taken in support of various spheres. The new budget projects a 4.8% GDP growth and a 4% budget deficit, including the Covid-19 measures. The medics working at the frontline against Covid-19 will continue to receive EUR 500 a month and the healthcare sector will receive an extra EUR 500 million.
