The MPs set up a temporary commission to consider changes to the Constitution related to citizens' rights, independence and the accountability of the judiciary. After nearly three hours of disputes, the opposition refused to participate in the commission and will have 8 members instead of 14.

"Changes in the Constitution - especially regarding the structure of the Supreme Judicial Court, the status of the Prosecutor General and the possibility of a direct constitutional complaint are long overdue and highly expected by society ", said the co-chairman of Democratic Bulgaria, Hristo Ivanov, who headed the commission.
The MRF proposed that one of the changes in the Constitution should be to remove the requirement for cabinet ministers and MPs to have Bulgarian citizenship only.
