Mothers of children with disabilities in Bulgarua united by the "The System is Killing Us" protested in front of the Bulgarian parliament today. They tried to enter the parliament building and meet with MPs to present their demands for an increase in pensions for children with disabilities.

Pensions for disabled children amount to BGN 7.60 (EUR 3.89) per day, which is entirely insufficient to maintain a normal  life. The protesters were not allowed in because they did not have permission to access parliament.

The protest ended with an agreement for the mothers' participation next Tuesday (March 1) in the meeting of the parliamentary social commission, where their demands will be heard.

After the protest, the government proposed an increase in social pensions for disability.

The change will be introduced in the budget for the State Social Security, which is currently being discussed.
