After the latest espionage scandal involving two employees of the State Agency National Security, allegedly spying for Russia, diplomatic steps are expected to be taken with regard to representatives of the Russian embassy in Sofia, State Agency National Security, SANS, chairperson Plamen Tonchev said.

The SANS management gave a press conference regarding the investigation launched by the specialized prosecutor’s office and involving two middle management employees of the Agency and one employee of a ministry.

“I would like to assure the public that the Agency has a very sturdy internal control mechanism, and that we shall not hesitate to take action, including against our own employees, whatever that may cost us,” Plamen Tonchev said.
