Fourteen illegal migrants have been detained in the region of Razgrad, northern Bulgaria, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior announced. The group was spotted on April 1 on the Ruse-Varna main road, near the junction for the village of Beli Lom.

The detainees are between 17 and 25 years old and were taken to the Loznitsa district administration. It was established there that they did not have identity documents and did not speak Bulgarian. Thanks to an interpreter who spoke to them, it became clear that the young people were from Afghanistan and had crossed the Bulgarian border with Turkey illegally, as they were left in a forest near the road.
Rapid proceedings were instituted and the migrants have been detained for up to 72 hours by a prosecutor's decree.
