In the next months the fuel price crisis will deepen and this will increase inequality, warned the leader of the Party of European Socialists Sergei Stanishev.

He said the Bulgarian government should propose "powerful social measures" to support citizens in the face of high prices. He also pointed out that Bulgaria should insist on a postponement of the embargo on Russian oil.

Commenting on the war in Ukraine, Stanishev said that both sides in the conflict had given up on seeking a political solution. He said efforts should have been made for a strategic compromise as early as the end of last year.

MEP Stanishev believes that the EU should be looking for options for dialogue to stop the hostilities.
